preshafruit packaging

preshafruit

In keeping with my fruity theme, here is some crisp packaging for Preshafruit Juices, designed by Australia-based Pidgeon. These unique juices are pasteurised using cold pressure rather than heat, which ensures greater retention of nutrition and natural flavour. The minimal packaging presents this beverage to me as pure and refreshing - borderline "medicinal," but in a good, healthy sort of way.

The title of this book made me smile. I take it in a "full of love" sort of way, not an "organ failure or misfortune" kind of way. Sometimes My Heart Pushes My Ribs by Ellen Kennedy.

dairy house extension

dairy

This converted dairy house has an incredible extension that houses two bathrooms and an adjacent bathing pool. The translucency of the wooden form comes from alternating layers of oak and glass blocks. The oak slats, refined on the interior, were left naturally weathered on the outside.

Swoon!

Vector Portraits by Andrew Bush, from 1989-1997

"Photographs made while traveling 50 to 70 mph in Los Angeles and other parts of the Southwestern United States." I would like to know if the artist had an intentional disposition toward older cars, which in turn made many of the photographs appear as if they were many decades older than the 80s and 90s.

Stuhlhockerbank by Yvonne Fehling and Jennie Peiz:

"Stuhlhockerbank" (chair stool bench) is a series of seating for public spaces that approach users and viewers in an extraordinary way. The dividing lines between different types of furniture are eliminated as the three types blend. The results are immobile constellations that seem familiar and yet at the same time surprising, enhanced by a sensual and poetic dimension.

loop by matthew weatherly

loop

Loop by Matthew Weatherly is a sculptural experiment for future furniture projects. The compressed maple wood has incredible properties:

"During the compression process, the steamed lumber is reduced to about 80% of its original longitudinal length, breaking it down on a cellular level. As long as the wood retains its approximate 25% humidity range, it can be cold formed, and then dried to a desired shape."

cracked crockery by ornamented life

olife

Cracked Crockery celebrates the blemishes of old dinnerware, and reminds me of the CMYK Tableware I posted about in July!

"Old, cast-off dinnerware is given new life as this Danish designer fills cracks and chips with 24K gold and then embellishes them with hand-made enamel floral transfers that "grow" out of the damage, making what was once flawed a work of reusable art. Each piece is unique."

japanese houses II

jhouses2

I love Japanese homes, especially in the condensed suburbs of Tokyo. The houses are often designed on miniscule lots, and each square inch is cherished space. Thus, the designs are unique and innovative in their attempts to maximize space, efficiency and light.

Most of the houses shown here are from Tokyo, and I hope to discover them on my upcoming trip!

One day - when I am an adult with an adult home and an adult paycheck - I am going to splurge for some exquisite A la Carte dinnerware from Rosenthal. The gesture of each piece is truly captivating.
